A security framework to strengthen the cyber security posture in the Kingdom!
According to the report from Arab News, Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has announced the enforcement of a security framework to strengthen cyber security in the nation.
The security framework aims to increase the cyber security level of service providers such as communications, IT, and postal service sectors. This initiative will ensure that adequate cyber security measures are enforced following the best cyber security practices implemented worldwide.
As per CITC’s statement, the security framework will ensure that cyber security risks are properly managed across different sectors.
Moreover, the framework will also require that these service providers adopt a cyber risk management methodology. That will result in fulfilling all cyber security requirements to protect against cyber threats effectively.
Keeping Up with the Measures as the Nation Progress
It is worth mentioning that, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program are purely focused on uplifting the general standard of living in the nation by accelerating primary and digital infrastructure projects.
And so far the nation has achieved impressive progress. As per World Bank’s “Doing Business 2020” report, the nation ranks among the top 10 in terms of reforms for economic advancement. Moreover, when it comes to 5G networks it ranks third, globally.
“After the Saudi Aramco incident (Shamoon cyberattack) in 2012, the (Saudi) government embarked on a journey to bootstrap its resources toward building a resilient cybersecurity ecosystem to address the cyber risks from internal and external hostile adversaries,” says Dr. Muhammad Khurram Khan, founder, and CEO of the Global Foundation for Cyber Studies and Research.
“During the last few years, several local universities have commenced degree programs in cybersecurity to prepare skilled and professional experts to cater for the demand of the local public and private organizations,” he added.
